How MakerSpace began…
In 2021 it was decided that a portion of the funding provided by HM Government’s Future High Street Fund would be used to regenerate the derelict High Pavement House in Sutton-in-Ashfield, this would be a shared building space with MakerSpace having a portion of the ground floor and basement.
Roll around to early 2022 and an open call for local makers who were interested was published, and an open evening to formally announce the project to the public was held. From the open evening, a committee of committed volunteers was formed to start running the huge task of turning MakerSpace into a reality.
MakerSpace is managed by a committee of volunteers on the behalf of the residents of Ashfield and the surrounding areas.
Available to members of the community via a monthly subscription, it is a place that provides machinery for making and crafting.
